Modelling Advice

Salma Agah
B.R. Chopra's Nikaah is a Muslim social drama highlighting divorce
in
the community. Salma Agha is an educated Muslim girl who loves Deepak
Parasher. Raj Babbar also loves her secretly. Salma is married to
Prashar. Prashar is carreer-driven and Salma feels neglected. When
tempers fly, Prashar hurls 'talaq, talaq, talaq'. With her world
shattered, Salma meets Raj Babbar who gives her moral and
psychological support. Prashar wants Salma back. Under Muslim law
this
is possible if she marries an other man and gets divorce from him.
Babbar is willing to make this sacrifice but Salma puts her foot
down.
Nikaah is a blockbuster due to powerpacked performances by the trio
of
Raj Babbar, Deepak Prashar and Salma Agha and Ravi's tour-de-force
numbers Dil ke armaan aansoun mein beh gaye.
We all know Salma for her songs and movies; she has worked in about
70
films big and small and has numerous awards from every corner of
the
industry. Here is the advice she would give to talents starting
up or
mid career level.
I would like Generation - Y to know that it is a constant struggle
for
lots and an easy lucky chance for some very talented people out
there.
Its almost a 50% chance of success. You would definitely get
the role
you are looking for if you match the requirement of the character
in a
movie. So keep trying and showing up on time for every, and any
audition
and you wont regret it. I wish you all the best of luck and
success in
bollywood and hollywood.

My advice: Just follow your dreams..and don’t give up...you
should dream only if you have the requirements and what the modeling
world requires, and be practical when doing so..and honest to your
self, so that you won’t be disappointed later.

Hiba Enayat - Former Miss Canada Pakistan 2004
Just as there are various kinds of modeling categories such as
ramp, advertising and brand representation etc, there are various
dominant requirements for each type. I was always worried about
being too short to be a model, but as I took my first steps, I realized
that nothing can be further than the truth. Hence, you cannot be
too short, too fat, too dark, too thin, or too much of anything
to be a model. It all depends on what the assignment requires you
to do and so NEVER sell yourself short!
I started modeling in Dubai, UAE for Planet Youth, displaying products
from labels such as Reebok, Speedo, Hayley Cato and Rayban. Other
assignments included modeling for Pepe Jeans, and Princess Boutique.
I have also promoted products and was a spokes- model for Benson
& Hedges, JPGL, L&M, various food products and for Nucreation
Boutique in Toronto. I had also previously won the Miss Canada Pakistan
2004 title.
I have also been involved with a film project with a local production
team in Toronto, the movie called Inteha is currently being edited.
The most important lessons I learnt were that I began to recognize
professional people in the entertainment industry from the scammers.
It is perhaps the most important piece of advice I can give, never
trust people for their words in this business, always ask for documented
proof of previous undertakings and accomplishments. Before considering
contractual agreements, thoroughly understand the clauses and remember
that a professional company will be working in the best interest
of all parties involved. Please also note that a professional modelling
agency will always pay you for your time and effort, even if just
to cover your expenses. Don't fall for " you are not experience
so no pay crap" ..
